Seperation of Church and State was clearly the intent of the Founding Fathers. Read some of the private literature of Thomas Jefferson {a non-Christian}. This is why there is no mention of the Christian God in either the Declaration of Independance or the Constitution; merely vague references to a "Creator".

And the idea that someone should be forced to leave the country if they don't want to say those words is absolutely ridiculous. Modern fundamentalist Christianity is absolutely nothing like what the Founding Fathers who happened to be Christian believed in {they were mostly Christian mystics}, does this mean that you should be forced to convert to mysticism? Absolutely not.

I think this whole thing is stupid because where I go to school they give you two choices. 1. If you don't want to say the pledge you can stand or sit quietly till the others are through. 2. You can do the pledge. So it is not like they are going to punish your child if he/she dont say the pledge. I am so totally for our nation being under god and if the rest of the world dont like it who cares! We have alot bigger issues than taking words out of the Pledge of Allegiance!

What religeon is being forced and where? Last time I checked, you were allowed to leave the United States if you disagreed with saying those four words (i.e one nation under GOD). Also, Forcing religeon would be making a child of a differant religeon sit in a room while someone preached their own beliefs about religeon... and, that's not happening. INFACT, That's illegal. That's what seperation of church and state means. That's forced religeon. NOT saying a few words that could easily mean nothing to someone.

"Separation of Church and State" never once appears in the constitution. I don't know where these people get it, but I do know they are out of their minds to think such a thing. Our nation was founded under God, that much is clear. You can read the constitution for yourself. It refers to God many times. This is very important, because we have people who are confused about this subject.

Remember, a nation without God cannot stand.

Personally, I think that the "under God" issue is ridiculous. This country has bigger problems than rather or not the words should be removed. You know, I once saw a bumpersticker that read "The last time we mixed politics with religion...people got burned at the stake." Do the Salem Witch Trials ring a bell?
