I do agree with a lot of the things you say though. Why not advertise? Why spend money employing workers to bust butt looking for business, when instead you could be getting your name out there, and getting calls FROM customers? However, there are plenty of reputable companies like our own that market only to customers who have iniciated use or have traveled using our incentives. With the new Federal DNC list in effect there are not that many companies out there that are willing to risk an 11k fine per call to a number blocked on that list. In fact most of the phone companies that are used for blanket marketing like this actually provide the blocking service for the marketing companies. Keeping the irratating calls to a minimum for the consumers. I myself find it fun to mess with a telemarketer when they call to "switch my LD provider " or whatever. I think that it is important to remember that there are hundreds of thousands of families that depend on Telemarketing to put food on the table and pay the rent. IMO if your not interested in getting a call from these people then dont sign up for free stuff online or to "WIN A FREE CAR" at the theater because that is where they get your number and guess what if you signed up for anything chances are that company is responsible for at least 20 other companies getting your personal information as well.
